Community shop
The community shop is located just inside the gates at Butrint. It is housed in the Kasolle a wooden, thatch-roofed structure built using traditional techniques.
The Kasolle is run by women from the villages on the Vrina Plain close to Butrint, and sells exclusively products made by the local community.
Among the items for sale are hand-made mosaics with motifs from the Baptistery and other monuments at Butrint, as well as jewellery, embroidery, painted objects, decorated bags and carved wood. All profits from the sale of merchandise goes directly to the people producing the goods.
The Kasolle is open between mid-May and late September.
