From Corfu
Ferries to Saranda depart from the New Port in Corfu Town. The departures hall is located at the far northern end of the harbour. A taxi from the airport will take c. 10 minutes, alternatively, it is c. 20-minute walk along the sea front from the Hotel Atlantis (www.atlantis-hotel-corfu.com; tel. +30 661 35560).
In 2006, there were typically two passenger ferries a day: one in the morning and then one again in the afternoon. The ferry most commonly in use was ‘The Flying Dolphin’, a Petrakis Lines hydrofoil ferry. The crossing takes 30 minutes, and a single ticket costs approximately 15 Euro. Tickets can be brought from the respective ferry line offices along the main road fronting the quayside between the Hotel Atlantis and the port itself.
Tickets are valid only for the ferry for which they were bought, therefore it may be advisable to buy a return ticket separately so that you can choose your preferred return time and ferry. Ferry schedules are subject to change and so we recommend you check the times in advance.
As you board your ferry you are asked to hand over you boarding pass and passport. The captain will keep hold of these to prepare information for the Albanian port officials. An entry visa for Albania is issued at the customs office in Saranda – price 10 Euro. At the customs office your passport will be returned to you with the required immigration stamp.
